That’s a powerful insight, Carson. I’m really glad you shared this.

I love what you said here: “Humility is the vessel that drives prosperity.”

There is so much truth to that statement.

Humility is absolutely key to the ability to learn and grow. And the fact is, nobody knows 100% what they’re doing from Day 1. That’s true when it comes to any sort of wealth, whether that’s financial or relational or even spiritual.

Only with humility do we have the ability to grow. Without it, we might as well be a rock. Everything becomes calcified.

When we take the focus off ourselves, and place it on God’s higher purpose for our lives, I think two things happen:

1.) We naturally begin to prosper across multiple domains of wealth (not simply finance) because we offer value to the world around us (Prov. 11:24-25).

2.) We find that the hand of God causes events to fall into place which allow us to learn, grow and expand our capacity to impact the world (Matt. 6:33).

Your quote from C.S. Lewis is spot on. It reminds me of the story in Genesis. Paradise fell when Adam and Eve’s eyes turned upon themselves. In thinking of ourselves less, we put the world in its proper hierarchy, and live from that solid foundation of invisible treasure within us.
